Q&A with Jonathan Garcia

January 14, 2016/ Lucia Parker

The Cruzbike team is excited to welcome Jonathan Garcia as our new Lead Sales Representative! He’ll be leveraging his extensive experience in the bicycle industry and his passion for Cruzbike to support our dealers, experts and customers. Along with the rest of the team, he’s working on some exciting projects we can’t wait to unveil. In the meantime, get to know Jonathan a little more through this Q&A.

Q: Welcome to the Cruzbike team! Tell us a little about your background.

My background is almost exclusively involving bicycles. From my first 30 second ride at 6 years old sans training wheels I was hooked. I spent nearly 20 years as a professional Freestyle Bmx rider and through that love and disclipine I gravitated ever more deeply into cycling. I owned two different frame building companies, raced and managed a mountain bike team, trained triathletes, pioneered fit techniques in that market that are still being used today. Although they would have you believe you need lasers and computers to do it! My recumbent experience is 15 years in the making, and I have owned nearly every style and brand, so I have a good grasp of the virtues of each type, which helps in my contributions to Cruzbike.

Jonathan’s industry experience includes a professional BMX freestyle career.

Q: Which bike is your go-to and why?

My go-to is the Silvio for all-around goodness and when I want to get down, dirty and fast I ride my V20. The most noticable difference between Cruzbikes and every other upright or recumbent is that at 19 or 20 mph it feels like you are just windmilling the pedals..No effort

Q: Do you have one piece or advice or word of encouragement for anyone who is unsure if a Cruzbike is right for him or her?
It is a design that requires a short term investment of time and energy to feel at home, but the returns are greater than you can imagine. Faster, better, smoother and more efficient. And that was before I drank the Kool-Aid. The difference between an upright and a Cruzbike is the difference between a prop-driven aircraft and a jet. It is an intoxicating experience when you know that you are riding the fastest bike in the world. If you do get passed you know it is all on you! My advice is..Stick With it!

Jonathan is an excellent teacher and can teach anyone to ride a Cruzbike.

Q: Tell us about your ideal ride.

When body and machine are perfectly synced regardless of weather..that is what makes my ideal ride. I prefer having a goal in mind when I ride whether it is a destination or if I am testing a piece of equipment, I really like to concentrate. I rarely let my mind wander when riding, too much to learn from the experience.
