Hello all,

I live in Canada in a town that lacks that ability to really clean the roads. This leaves me in some deeper snow with lots of hidden ice. For the most part I don't want to be cruzbiking (even with the studded tires)

So I'm thinking about putting a "trike" back end on, and then mounting an electric hub motor on one of the wheels (easy right? no chains and gears in the way?)

Has anyone tried this? Recommended back end?
I know a welder who has worked with square aluminum so might be able to build from scratch.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Too many parts

@Sylvain not inspired that much, sorry. Too many parts to achieve the result and a nightmare tangle of bits in the airstream. This is not an  efficient or fast. For a home build it is certainly a credit to the builder.

A good model

On the other hand, for someone wanting to build something, it is a good model towork from. It is is using the Calleja patent, or something closely related. That is US patent 5611555, 1997
