Cruzbike FeaturesThe Cruzbike Sofrider and Freerider come with adjustments to ensure you sit comfortably and safely, so you can enjoy the ride, every time. To get started on the Cruzbike, jump on and adjust the leg length (shown in blue) using the quick release on the front tube. For most, that will be enough to get you off and away. You may find you need to adjust the handlebar reach as well (shown in green). The Cruzbike will fit those with large and small x-seam measures. |

The seat height and centre of gravity on the Cruzbike is at the perfect level. High enough to be seen properly in traffic, but lower than a normal bike so you can get your feet on the ground easily and come to a rapid stop without fear of tipping over the handlbars. On the Cruzbike, we have deliberately positioned you at eye level with car drivers and you are more clearly visible to them than on low recumbent bikes or trikes. The seat is narrow enough through the middle so you can easily stand and straddle the bike. |

The seat is specially contoured to provide proper back support. The seat base is curved and is tilt adjustable. Also, the seat cushions are removable. The foam and covering is sports grade polyester and can easily be washed. The bike is fitted with a reliable 16 speed gearing system with a wide spread of gears that go from walking pace to speeds up to around 30 mph depending on your cadence (how fast you pedal). High pressure 100 psi tires are fitted which give an excellent roll and with the suspension on the Cruzbike (orange) smooths out the ride and improves traction. Perhaps we should say “come and test drive the new Cruzbike”. Unlike rear wheel drive recumbent bikes, the Cruzbike gives you dual 26” wheels but spreads your weight 50-50 front and back and gives you a low bottom bracket height. All this is done on a standard wheelbase – impossible on a rear wheel drive recumbent. The Cruzbike is compact and will mount on a standard bike rack and can be taken anywhere other bikes go. The front wheel can be turned almost 180 degrees which makes the bike even more compact and tucks the chain out of the way, which is very handy for parking (turn all the way right to use the kickstand) if you are finishing your journey on a train or keeping your Cruzbike indoors. Speaking of the chain, no other recumbent has such a short and compact chain and drive system. Based on a tetrahedron, like the structure of a diamond, the drive structure is very stiff and the bottom bracket is supported by three tubes rather than being held on one boom as found on other recumbents. The Cruzbike is the only recumbent which uses this special structure. This extra stiffness means that the Cruzbike converts more of your precious pedaling effort into forward motion, which is one of the reasons it rides fast and climbs well. There is a limit to Front Wheel Drive which should not be glossed over and applies when ascending steep gravel trails. If the grade reduces you to walking pace then you may also experience wheel spin. In this case, simply walk the bike up. Don't let this momentary shortcoming worry you. The quality of the handling on all other sections of the ride will see you at the top relaxing and enjoying the view far sooner than with most other recumbents. With simple techniques such as leaning forward and pedalling smoothly, the occasional wheel spin is easily managed. The suspension on the front wheel aids traction and eliminates wheelspin in most situations.
