I am near Rockford, with an S30 if you don't get any better offers.

I took off the fabric cover, peeled the foam back a little, drilled the screw holes out, and replaced the screws with machine thread bolts, nylock nuts, and washers. Seems to be working after a couple hundred miles.

I had the same trouble You should find the hanger bolt already threaded into the derailleur. It is not obviously a bolt until you remove it from the derailleur.
