Today went well! After a restful night sleep, I was ready to get on the road again and happy about the warmer temperatures. There was more wind today and 32 miles into a headwind was exhausting, but I feel like the wind gusts have allowed me to gain more Cruzbike handling confidence. All of these little things stack up to big wins, considering future ambitions.

Today’s biggest win? I think I may have found the sweet spot for cleat position and potentially resolved my tight arch issue. At my first pitstop, I decided to change to my spare shoes. I had to rob a screw off of my current shoes and make a couple of adjustments so that took a bulk of time.

After two hours, it was clear that there was not enough room in the toe box of the new shoes, and I needed to switch back. It did show me the difference of a cleat position and so I made that adjustment on my original shoes. Everything felt great after that.

My stops were longer than I typically prefer during an ultra event, but we also were trying to move with intention. I’m looking forward to resting my feet tonight and seeing how tomorrow feels.

There were so many little “battles” to face that I didn’t need to rely on my typical mantras of making it through. I tried to stay present in the moment and focus on solving the issue at hand.

Feeling pleased with today’s miles! 🤘🏽

Mantra of the Day:

“Stay focused and present in the moment and only battle what’s in front of you now.”

Song of the Day:

Aside from singing to myself without music, I listened to audiobook, “Can’t Hurt Me” by David Goggins.
