What is the Cruzbike Truck?

 It's electric. It hauls. It's comfortable. It's rugged. It's the most fun we've ever had on three wheels. This powered, tilting, cargo-hauling beast is a tilting trike made from a bike (Cruzbike T50 Gen 3) plus a purpose-built 750W electric power pod  (Cruzbike Truck Cargo Trike Attachment) that uses a differential to apply even power to both rear wheels.

Truck Electric Cargo Trike Attachment - $5700: Choose this if you already own a T50 Gen 3 Complete or have built up your own T50 Gen 3 and want to convert it to a Cruzbike Truck.

Truck Build Bundle - $8000: This bundle includes everything you need to build a Cruzbike Truck: a Truck Electric Cargo Trike Attachment, a T50 Gen 3 Frameset and a T50 Front End Component and Wheel Set.

No kickstand, no tradeoff

Super stable

In our research of cargo bikes and trikes, pretty much every product on the market has a tradeoff: maneuverability vs. stability under load. Front loaders are more stable, but lack maneuverability and rear loading cargo bikes trade stability for maneuverability. The Cruzbike Truck is the best of both worlds. The load is super stable over the rear wheels (but doesn't tip while cornering because of our tilting design) and the front end maneuvers just like a bike. Plus, you get the comfort factor of riding in a seated position rather than on a saddle.

The Cruzbike Truck is made to haul. Its cargo platform is ready for whatever you need to carry. We've hauled everything from farmer's market shopping to a ridiculously large pile of firewood to Jim Parker himself on this thing. Whether you strap your cargo right to the rack or build your own bespoke cargo box, the Cruzbike Truck will be, well, your new favorite truck.

Powerful motor

All Wheel Drive

Pedal in the front and power in the back. The Cruzbike Truck features a Bafang 48V 750W Geared motor with both throttle and pedal assist power. This triple power system - pedal, throttle, assist - delivers smooth accelerations and powerful climbing with a heavy load. Not to mention a whole lot of zippy fun. In our testing we see about 20 mph max speed with no pedaling and 20 miles max range with no pedaling. This will of course vary by terrain, cargo and rider.

Why is the Cruzbike Truck so stable?

When you go around a corner, you and the bike tilt, allowing you to corner more safely and at a higher speed than if you didn't tilt. Meanwhile, the cargo pod in the back remains upright. Obviously this is not a race car, it's a truck, so drive accordingly and only within your skill and experience level.

The Tilting Mechanism

We spent years testing various tilt-lock systems and found that when they work (and truly prevent tilting) the trike immediately becomes unstable and unsafe. The breakthrough was realizing you don’t need a tilt lock. The Truck's tilting system, brilliantly designed by Su-Yuen Hsu, a retired NASA aerospace engineer, adds just enough natural resistance to make the rider feel secure.

Maria first spotted this tech at the Taipei Cycle Show a couple of years ago. She told Jim and Robert, "I saw a cool product I think we could use to make a tilting trike with electric-assist." They all went upstairs and met the great team at Naro Delta.

Naro Delta's trike was rear-wheel-drive only, not built as an attachment. We explained to the Naro Delta team that their tech paired with a Cruzbike front-wheel-drive bike, could make an awesome all-wheel-drive cargo trike. This is how the collaboration began, and eventually it led to various working prototypes and finally Generation 1 of the Cruzbike Truck. Cruzbike licenses the use of the tilting mechanism from Naro Delta, LLC.

        T50 Frame and Front End

        The T50 Gen 3 features a robust 7005 T6 aluminum alloy frame, Cruzbike's Dynamic Boom Front Wheel Drive power triangle and the epically comfortable (and adjustable) two-piece aluminum seat. The cushion is a one-piece dream that cradles its rider from shoulders to derrier and positions riders eye-to-eye with motorists, not low like many trikes.
